Most of this work involved aquatic toxicity research using various fish models (primarily fathead minnows) with a focus on understanding mechanistic toxicity of endocrine disruptors. While working at the USEPA laboratory in Duluth, MN, he performed field studies and laboratory analysis towards the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, whereby chemical and biological endpoints were used to characterize the state of areas of concern around the great lakes. He began attending Midwest SETAC as a graduate student and served on the board of directors for three years beforebecoming vice president. He values the opportunities that arise through engagement with the regional community, and the insight gained through networking and communication with environmental toxicologists and chemists of all career stages, from students to retirees. David spends most of his free time outdoors, fly-fishing, running, hiking, biking andbackpacking.
